100 Overhead Squats with a side of burpees

It's game day! But before rushing home to catch the puck drop for game 3 of the Stanley Cup playoffs, I hit Crossfit Renegade for a quick workout of the day.

 

I arrived early and used my travel roller and bands for some mobility work, then decided to work some box squats before class began.

Box Squats weight progression:

  • 135 lbs x 10 reps

  • 185 lbs x 10 reps

  • 225 lbs x 6 reps

  • 245 lbs x 4 reps

  • 275 lbs x 3 reps

  • 315 lbs x 2 reps


Now on to the class...

Warm-up with a partner

  • 20lbs ball situp x 25 reps each person;

  • 400 m ball run x 2 (alternate who carries the ball).


Technique:  Snatch Balance 3-3-3

  • 3 x 95 lbs;

  • 3 x 115 lbs;

  • 3 x 135 lbs.


Workout of the Day:  100 Overhead squats (for me, just 75lbs)

Every minute on the minute you will do:

  • 7 burpees;

  • with the remainder of your minute you will then get as many Overhead Squats as possible.


To make it interesting, if Coach Fidds caught anyone not going below parallel on their OHS, you had to put your bar down and do 1 burpee as a penalty.  Also, if you drop your bar you had to do an additional 10 burpees.

My time to complete was 10:54 .  And it was a brutally long, drawn out 10:54... I loved it!
