Admittedly, clean and jerks are one of my favorite movements to execute during heavy lifting days. There’s something to be said about lifting a heavy weight from the ground to overhead that helps you get in touch with your primal side. I know that lifting heavy stuff is just a lot of fun, satisfying and ensures that all the stress is gone from my body before returning home from a long day a work. This all being said, today was “lifting” day at Crossfit Vancouver.
Warm-up: 50 hanging power clean and push jerks with the dowel
Technical: work your way up to a heavy hanging power clean with a push jerk
My weights were,6 x 135, 6 x 155, 3 x 185, 3 x 195, 3 x 205.
Workout of the day: for 10 minutes, each minute on the minute execute 3 x hang power cleans with a push jerk (rest is whatever time you have remaining in the minute before your next set).
I managed to get my 10 rounds completed at 185lbs. I did these unbroken and without putting the bar down during my sets of 3. I really should have gone for 205. I guess that will have to be next time.
So what are you waiting for? Go primal and thrown something heavy. Rock n’ roll baby!
