Jay Rhodes is an incredible athlete. However, like many of us who enter into the Crossfit community (or tribe), we are quickly humbled by many of the movements and workouts of the day. That being said, keeping in mind that every movement and workout is completely scalable to one’s fitness levels allows us opportunity to work at capacities relative to our own abilities and fitness levels. Jay Rhodes compiled the below video which details his journey into Crossfit. It’s inspiring and extremely motivating.
Take a moment and check out Jay’s article which appeared in the Crossfit Journal in February 2011, entitled “It’s not about the numbers“.
Thanks for putting this video together, Jay. All of us appreciate you taking the time to share your story. You’ve inspired many of us to continue on our own paths to greatness.
That’s so awesome. Nice progress! I’m just beginning to get into crossfit and it’s been tough after having knee surgery and back surgery. I can already see some progress, though, and it feels great!

Thanks for sharing this video. I think most of us in the CrossFit community have felt like this at some point in our training. I can especially identify with this kind of struggle as I’m trying to get back to lifting after 5 months post 2 back surgeries. This video made me smile and appreciate how far I’ve come during recovery.
