See you at the Dad 2.0 Summit (#Dad2Summit)

See you at the Dad 2.0 Summit (#Dad2Summit)
It isn't every day I'm presented with a fantastic opportunity, but a few weeks ago that's just what happened.  Many of you who follow my social media interactions know I'm a busy dude who loves family, fitness and sharing the benefits of living a healthy, active lifestyle.  I guess I got noticed by some people at Dove Men+Care whom share my same passions.  Unilever, a world-class brand in itself, is sponsoring me to attend the sold out Dad 2.0 Summit in Austin, Texas this weekend.  I've been tasked with leading a CrossFit workout for some of the most highly dynamic, professional and engaging fathers in North America today.  Along with the likes of Jonathan Fields and Guy Kawasaki, check out this list of accomplished speakers.  One word... "WOW"!

Admittedly, when I was first approached about this opportunity, I was somewhat skeptical.  Unsure if it was a good fit for me, I looked deeper into the Dove Men+Care messaging and I was amazed at what I found.  Here's a company that understands men and our overall driving factors: active, outgoing, overachiever, and always looking to improve ourselves on all levels.  The key message echoed throughout their media channels profoundly resonates with me, " every man deserves to feel comfortable in his own skin ".   When I saw this, along with the ads and how many events and community initiatives they are undertaking, I was in 120% (and funny enough, not that this swayed my decision at all, but I've coincidentally been a user of Dove Men+Care products for about 6 months already)

I'm very excited to bring a new style of training to many of these Dads.  Many of which haven't heard about CrossFit before but excited to give it a try.  My goal is to make the workout routines accessible, scale-able to all fitness levels and easy to do no matter your current situation.  The workout(s) will be body weight based and without equipment...

To many of the dads who will be in attendance this weekend, I Tweeted the following question: " Which WOD would you like to try at #DAD2SUMMIT?  ht.ly/9u8gV ".  The responses varied, and some curious what was a "WOD", but the overall sentiment is excitement and eagerness to try something new.  All of us in attendance are fathers on the go with very busy lifestyles and familiar commitments, but learning how to fit in time to look after ourselves gets bottom-of-the-list placement much of the time.

Here's a bit more about the Dad 2.0 Summit :
THE DAD 2.0 SUMMIT is an annual conference where marketers, social media leaders, and blogging parents connect to discuss the changing voice and perception of modern fatherhood.

More men are defying stereotypes by taking active roles in their children’s lives, making day-to-day household purchasing decisions regarding products and services, and chronicling these experiences online. The Dad 2.0 Summit is an open conversation about the commercial power of dads online, as well as an opportunity to learn the tools and tactics used by influential bloggers to create high-quality content, build personal brands, and develop viable business models.

And if you haven't seen any of the new Dove Men+Care ads yet, I recommend checking them out.  They are quite engaging as they feature a few prominent men and snippets of their lives.
