New Power Clean PR and a run in the rain

For those of you that follow my blog, you know my dislike for running.  There’s just something about it that doesn’t jive with me, yet I keep trying, and trying, and trying to get myself to like it.  Maybe one day, but for now, I’ll continue to merit the name “Moose” for my oafish gait.  But today!  Yes today.  I actally ran a mile for a warm up and didn’t mind it.  Yes, I repeat, I didn’t mind it!  Maybe becuase of the light rain that was drizzling, Vancouver-style; or maybe just that I hadn’t run for so long that the body actually wanted it. (now that’s ridiculous… must be the rain)

Just a few of my friends: "The Fitness Town Summit Seekers"... who else is joining me on the grind this season?

On the board at CrossFit BC was just what I needed:  Power Cleans and nothing but.

WOD:  Power Cleans, for 3 reps working to a max 3-rep set

  • 3 x 185 lbs
  • 3 x 195 lbs
  • 3 x 205 lbs
  • 3 x 215 lbs
  • 3 x 225 lbs
  • 3 x 235 lbs
  • 3 x 245 lbs
  • 3 x 255 lbs

At this point I got a bit overzealous and thought I might be able to push my luck and better my earlier 1-rep max by 5lbs and ended up failing at 280lbs twice.

You win some, you lose some.  I’ll take 3 at 255lbs as a win today.
