With 2012 coming to a close I reflect back on a year that was, for lack of a better word, awesome! Personally I've seen many changes in myself by way of family successes, personal growth, physical performance in my sport and professional accomplishments.
Reflecting back on 2012 there are too many milestones to list as my path has always been long and winding, but I can share a few of my highs and lows that made 2012 my own.
(And yes, I too had some lows this year, and I'm grateful for every one of them based on the lessons they taught me.)
3 realizations I've come to learn from my year that was 2012
- I'm human
- faced with some medical complications
from a condition called autoimmune neutropenia I was hospitalized on 3 separate occasions for treatment of various infections. A reality check I needed asI turned 36 this year and like most overly active and healthy men, I thought I was 10 feet tall and bullet proof. I was wrong. I respect my health and the delicate nature of finding balance, after all you just never know.
- My family is the most important piece of my life
and without them, I'd be lost. My girls, now 7 and 9, are growing up way too quickly. Being faced with my medical issues forced me to slow down (a bit) and reflect on what matters most. The answer is simple: my 3 women. On this note, to add concrete finality on our partnership, Christie and I in our 12th year of being together married one another on 12-12-12 at 12 minutes past noon. In hindsight, I don't know what took me so long. I can't wait to see where 2013 takes my wife (love saying this) and I.
- Setting Goals
and being held accountable by those that love you gets things done. Period.
Moving forward this year, here are
14 rules I'll personally try to keep front and center
while tackling my desire to continue growing in
4 areas of my life
:
family
,
fitness
,
faith
and
finances.
(and on that... stay tuned as I have something big coming down in 2013...)
14 Rules to strive and live by as we enter into 2013
- THINK positively
- NETWORK well
- EXERCISE daily
- EAT healthy
- WORK hard
- STAY strong
- BUILD faith
- WORRY less
- BE happy
- VOLUNTEER freely
- RELAX often
- LOVE always
- LIVE forever (I love this one!)

and having a grateful attitude
is going to determine how you're going to live your life." ~ Joel Osteen
