2013

There's a #JSPedalForKids party and you're all invited July 10th

Did you know that  1 in 3 Canadian Kids can't play the sports they want to because of financial barriers? I didn't until just a few days ago.  Also what I didn't know was that the "Jumpstart" program has helped over 600,000 kids get in the game since 2005.  Ah-mazing!

I consider myself someone in the know and was surprised to learn that such an amazing cause was not only running in my backyard but backyards all across Canada.  I'm someone who loves to support local grassroots non-profits and as a father of 2 young children this charity in particular struck a chord within me.  I've witnessed firsthand the valuable life lessons, confidence and social skills that have been created and reinforced in my kids via sports.  It crushes me to think that some children in my own communities are missing out on these opportunities due to financial roadblocks.

Fortunate for Canadian kids across Canada the Jumpstart program is doing something about it!  On July 10th I hope you join me in spreading the good word on Twitter all about Jumpstart's Pedal for Kids initiative.  Read on to learn more about how you can contribute both on and offline and together let's get the kids in the game!

WestCoastTour: Jumpstart Pedal for kids

Canadian Tire Jumpstart is a national charitable program that helps financially disadvantaged kids participate in organized sport and recreation. Jumpstart helps cover registration fees, equipment and/or transportation costs.

Since the inception in 2005, Canadian Tire Jumpstart has given more than 600,000 kids across Canada the chance to play. Jumpstart is dedicated to removing financial barriers, so children can participate in organized sport and recreation.

This year, from July 13 to July 17th, Canadian Tire Dealers, corporate employees across the enterprise and friends of the corporation will complete a bike ride from Hinton to Calgary Alberta in support of Canadian Tire Jumpstart. Through fundraising efforts of each of the cyclists and local fundraisers, the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Pedal for Kids Cycling Tour is hoping to raise $250,000 to give kids a sporting chance. This year, due to the flooding in Alberta, the Pedal for Kids ride will ALSO be contributing all text donations generated this event to the communities in the Southern Alberta areas affected by the flooding.

Check out the Jumpstart Facebook Page NOW to find out how you can get kids in the game OR how to help the Alberta community by texting only $5 to your favorite cyclists.

Jumpstart will also be providing LIVE UPDATES from the ride and giving away some amazing Pedal prizes. Right now take a quick look at the Jumpstart Facebook page to follow your favorite rider, and to learn more about the Pedal Giveaway’s. You can also follow on Twitter and Instagram

“Just so you know, I have been compensated to share my ideas on this topic. Sometimes it is in the form of products, or services or even money… But here’s the thing; I won’t  share anything with you that I don’t fully support. It doesn’t matter what it is, or how much they are willing to give me, if I don’t believe in it, It won’t be on my site. Seriously. You’ll just have to trust me on this.”   ~ Moose
