After getting spanked in a 5km run this past weekend at the CrossFit Taranis Winter Challenge, I’ve decided to commit to running 5km, 3 times per week. [...]
10 km is the equivalent of 6.21 miles; 10,000 meters; 32,808 feet or 393,700 inches… but no matter how you look at it, it feels like a long, LONG, way for me. Running and me are like oil and water – you shake it enough it may look like it mixes, but as soon as you stop shaking you realize that its still just water with oil on it.
Fred Lebow, the New York City Marathon co-founder, was absolutely right when he said: “In running, it doesn’t matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say, ‘I have finished.’ There is a lot of satisfaction in that.” Tonight I felt great just for running 45 minutes at one-speed.
Tonight I had a great run with a good friend of mine, Casey. Have to admit, was a bit awkward at first – Casey was in full garb, baby stroller loaded and his 100 lbs bull mastiff in tow. I barely had enough room to run along side him.
Got a quick run in on Sunday night… did a repeat of the Running Room clinic run done on Friday. I mapped it on MapMyRun.com – its 2.0 miles exactly!
Last night I ran. Well, maybe not to the same standard laid out by the definition of “running” on Wikipedia.org – but I was definitely not plodding. LOL! For those of you who know me, I’ve never been a runner.
