Why I love my BSc Compression Gear for training

Are you looking to take your training up a level? Ever wondered why all those pro-athletes are wearing all that, what appears to be, spandex clothing? Compression garments are not here to make a fashion statement, but rather, is here to give you an edge by improving you in the following ways:

- Increases explosive power output;
- Reduces blood lactate concentration;
- Increases endurance and strength levels;
- Enhance proprioception;
- and, Assist with recovering faster.

How does it work:

By applying scientifically designed surface pressure on the body where it is most needed, you will increase blood flow delivery and improve removal of muscle wastes, allowing you to go harder, faster and longer.

Further benefits include:

- Reduced oscillation in muscles;
- improved proprioception;
- and, reduced likelihood of injury.

How does BSc Compression Clothing work? Just read the research below for yourself.

Reduction in the severity of delayed onset of muscle soreness (DOMS)

In a clinical trial Kraemer** and co-worker's induced delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) through an eccentric resistance training protocol in 20 female participants. Post exercise the women were divided into two groups, one group wore a compression garment while the other group received no treatment.

The results indicated that compression garments facilitated recovery of muscle strength and power and resulted in significantly less perceived muscle soreness 24 hours post exercise. This finding correlated with the group receiving no treatment having 2-3 cm increase in upper arm circumference attributed to swelling, while the compression garment group had no swelling at all.

Reduction in muscle oscillations

In investigating muscle oscillation upon landing from a maximal vertical jump it was reported that compression garments were able to significantly reduce longitudinal and anterior-posterior muscle oscillation by 0.32 and 0.40 cm respectively.

Increased VO2 Max levels

VO2 Max is a physiological index of exercise performance that is deemed to be highly correlated to success in endurance sports. VO2 Max is defined as the greatest rate of oxygen uptake by the body measured during severe dynamic exercise. The use of compression garments during endurance exercise has been shown to significantly increase athletes VO2 Max levels.

Reduction in Blood Lactate Levels

A recent study reported that compression garments resulted in a 40% increase in individual's anaerobic threshold as measured during an incremental exercise test. This data sugest that compression garments could be of significant benefits to any athlete performing intense exercise both during training and competition.

Increase in Explosive Power

A study conducted by Doan and co-worker's reported that vertical jump height increased by 2.4cm when performed wearing compression garments. this study correlated to findings by Kraemer that the average force and power production during 10 consecutive vertical jumps in volleyball player was significantly higher when wearing compression garments.

Greater Distribution of Moisture

The Bodyscience compression garment showed the strongest moisture management properties with migration of 11.2cm seen at the 5 minute mark with the garment further propelling moisture 15cm at the 14.3 minute mark. The BSc compression garment completed moisture movement at a total of 26.7 cm at the 30 minute mark. Tests were conducted by independent third party Precision Testing Laboratories USA with results demonstrating Bodyscience compression garments contain superior wicking properties compared to competitors.

Moisture management results remained relatively consistent post a 3 wash launder test with migration of 11.1cm at the 5 minute mark with the garment further moving moisture 15cm at the 14.9 minute mark. The compression garment completed moisture movement at a total of 26.0cm at the 30 minute mark.

BSc Compression wear is the most superior compression clothing available in the marketplace today.

Here's a few features that set it apart from all the rest:

• Warp Knit
• Durability
• Leaders
• Flexibility
• Moisture

Warp Knit vs. Weft-knit:

BSc Compression employs a warp knitted fabric in the construction of all their compression garments to deliver unmatched graded compression for the life of the garment. Unfortunately, many other compression brands use circular knit fabric (Welt knit) which reduces the quality of their compression garment. Put simply, Warp knit garments provide superior compression because more goes into the garment.

Warp-knitted fabric

Weft-knitted fabric

Durability:

BSc Warp knit fabric uses a total of 7980 fabric ends compared to it’s circular knit (weft-knit) competitors using a mere 216 fabric ends. More fibres equals more durability meaning you get the benefits of compression long after circular knit brands have worn out.

Leaders:

BSc Warp knit fabrics all contain an industry leading 70 Denier fabric with a 250gsm weighted material compared to their circular knit competitors 50 denier fabric. Greater thickness in yarn provided by BSc Compression gives you the ultimate in muscle power and stability.

Denier:

Is a unit of measure for the linear mass density of fibers. It is defined as the mass in grams per 9,000 meters

Flexibility:

BSc Compression delivers life long compression performance through its higher elastomeric fiber content compared to circular knit competitors. Higher elastomeric fibers increases compression performance whiles ensuring the shape and appearance of the garment are maintained no matter what sport you’re involved in.

Moisture:

The Body Science compression garment showed the strongest moisture management properties with migration of 11.2cm seen at the 5 minute mark with the garment further propelling moisture 15cm at the 14.3 minute mark. The BSc compression garment completed moisture movement at a total of 26.7cm at the 30min mark. Tests were conducted by independent third party Precision Testing Laboratories U.S.A. with results demonstrating Body Science compression garments contain superior wicking properties compared to competitors.
