Daddy's little girl ain't so little anymore

Daddy's little girl ain't so little anymore
Today started off on a high-note, it's my daughter Chardonae's 9th birthday!  I can't believe it.  I am feeling my age, catching myself thinking about how fast time flew by - as cliché as it is, it feels like it was yesterday I was fumbling with her car seat for the first time trying to prove to the nurses at BC Women's that I was a competent father, allowing Nurse Ratchet to let me and Christie take her home.

Even at 9, she's still infatuated with Calico Critters and girly things, but every once in a while I catch a glimpse of the young woman she's becoming and it scares me.  Not so much the inevitable of what she is becoming, but more so that my "little" girl or the self-proclaimed "daddy's little girl" just might wake up one day and decide to give up the stuffies, toys, and little girly things that she loves to occupy her time with.  Replacing them with adult-things like cell phones, tweets and texts, and my biggest fear that she stops being "daddy's little girl".  I'm going to try to enjoy these days for as long as I can and if she will let me, play with the little Calico Critters, the Barbie Doll houses and her favorite stuffy Miss Good Dream Bunny.  After all, I'd do anything for my "little girl".

... PS - I still fumble with those stupid car seats!
