I love Coaching CrossFit classes

I love Coaching CrossFit classes
Since February 2012 I've been actively training/coaching people at the Fitness Town Sunday "Funday" Throwdowns.  One thing that I've realized from the past year is that I absolutely LOVE coaching!  Seeing the changes in people's health, wellness and fitness is incredible.  I can't get enough of it and this morning I coached my first class at Studeo55 CrossFit.

Sunday-Fundays

Why do I do it?  Simple.   Empowerment and influencing change.

Empowering people with knowledge fuels confidence; and from confidence comes the drive to learn new skills.  Internalizing these skills and by improving physical fitness, they continue to build their confidence and further empower themselves to lead healthier, active lifestyles.  And the cycle continues... wow!

Just think, as the numbers increase, and the community of empowered health-minded people gets more and more health conscious, a movement is created.  (just look at CrossFit which now surpasses 5,000 affiliates worldwide).   This movement will influence the change we want to see in the world because they are eating, living, breathing the change themselves day-in, day-out.  Freaking AWESOME!

Well, maybe a bit of a hyperbole, but I think you get a better understanding of why I love coaching...

The workout today was as follows...

Studeo55 WOD 01 07 2013

Studeo55:  AM 07/01/2013

Warm-up:   Dynamic stretching, waiter walks and goblet squats with kettlebells along with band pull-aparts.

Tech work:   3 Touch and Go Cleans + 1 Jerk; 5 sets; rest as needed

My loading: 135 / 155 / 185 / 205 / 225 (missed the jerk - left clavical is still killing me)

WOD:  AMRAP (15 minute)

  • 20 Wall Balls - 20/14#

  • 20 Pull ups

  • 20 Burpees

Loved this conditioning workout!  I eked out 4 complete rounds plus 44 reps.  Looking forward to re-testing with this one in a month's time.  I think I have 5 + rounds in me!
