The 7 Most Inspiring Health and Fitness TED Talks

The 7 Most Inspiring Health and Fitness TED Talks
TED in a nutshell... TED is short for Technology, Entertainment, Design and was created by a private non-profit entity called the Sapling Foundation. The slogan - "Ideas Worth Spreading" - captures the true essence of TED.

During the TED conferences, a range of topics are showcased by industry leaders. Many an iconic figure have delivered thought-provoking, trend-setting and mind-blowing speeches. Their focus is simple - share ideas worth spreading.

Today, with the help of the internet, it's easy to simply sit back, kick your feet up and learn, learn, learn and learn. What's the difference between wisdom and knowledge? To answer this, watch a few TED talks and I think you'll figure it out.

The following are, in my opinion...

It’s surprising to learn that “telling” someone your goal or vocalizing the goal could give to failure in reaching that goal. This iconic speaker is passionate about getting what he considers a very fundamental yet controversial thought process across to the masses.

3. John Wooden: The difference between winning and success

Most of us grow up thinking (or are conditioned to think) that winning and success is everything. Unfortunately this is only partly true and further intensive research into this area has proven to be an eye opener. Recent research has documented proof that pushing yourself and “giving it your all” no matter the results is more rewarding psychologically and physically. It makes the person stronger and more willing to strive for goals.

4. A.J.Jacobs: How healthy living nearly killed me

5. Jamie Oliver: Teach every child about food

http://youtu.be/go_QOzc79Uc

Food is primal to the human existence and eating right is important. Over the years it has become obvious that healthy eating is not important to the average person whereby simply satisfying the smallest of hunger pangs has dominated the status-quo of modern cultures.

6. Dean Ornish: Healing through diet

http://youtu.be/CbVflDOWCbU

In order to have a healthy body, diet plays an important role. However diet is not the only thing that should be given consideration. Other factors like a healthy energy flow throughout the body is also important. Meditation can help in this area.

7. Christopher McDougall: Are we born to run?

http://youtu.be/b-iGZPtWXzE

Research, has brought about some understanding between the connection of running and how the human body can function optimally. Running is more than just exercise; it is a way to get the “machinery” within the body working together and in harmony to produce a healthy being.
