I like working my weaknesses

Yesterday afternoon i worked with my coach Jeremy at Studeo55.  For an hour straight we worked nothing but two of my least favorite movements:  the snatch (full squat) and the muscle-up.  Working my goats is not typically  fun but I was finding my groove eventually.

My Top-10 CrossFit Goals for 2013

In case you didn't already know I love CrossFit! I made a shift four years ago when I started on my personal road to improving my functional fitness capacity; CrossFit completely transformed the way I look at my own personal health and fitness.  Had you asked me “would I be where I am today“, I would have had a hard …

Open WOD 11.1 Revisited

Last night I had the opportunity to visit one of the Lower Mainland's newest CrossFit boxes, Hybrid Athletics in Langley, B.C.  If you aren't familiar with Hybrid, have a look at the following photo album of their grand opening event.  Simply put, awesome!  Coach Nate and Coach Robbie's programming is both comprehensive and energetic, but most importantly a lot of …

Larry Burke Memorial Masters Olympic Lifting Competition

Can I get a little Snatch, Crackle, Pop?

Officially back to training after 3 weeks off with an ankle injury and I find myself sluggish, weak and honestly, a bit tired.  But does that slow me down?  Only mentally.  I have to push myself that bit extra now as I'm finding that I'm lacking that little pop in my step.  When I saw that CrossFit Vancouver had snatch progressions on the …

Snatching my way to fitness

Squat snatching my way to health and fitness… bollocks! I'm kidding.  Seriously, I don't know of any other lift that messes with my head and body more than the Snatch.  It is definitely one of the most complex lifts you can do and if you are like me and have one weakness or two (i.e. weak overhead squat) then this …
