Muscle-ups: A work in progress

Muscle-ups:  A work in progress

Muscle-ups are not my forte.  For as long as I've been able to do them, they've been the bane of my CrossFit existence.  But starting NOW, this all changes.  Along with Handstand Push-ups and pistols, I'm ready to really make a concerted effort to make these movements "fun" and "enjoyable".  At least that's the plan.

How will I do this?  Good question.  Practice, practice, practice... I've made a reminder on my "training" to do list to include set time to work on these movements 4 times per week.  I'm hoping that helps - check back to find out.

Yesterday's WOD at CrossFit BC was technique focused and was a welcomed change from some of the more traditional Hero workouts and Met-cons we've doing as of late.

Warm-up:  5 Minute AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible)

  • 20 x double-unders;

  • 10 x Knees-to-elbows

I managed to crank out 6 rounds plus 5 reps.  Definitely got my heart rate going!

Tech work:

  • Thrusters, working up to 135lbs

  • Muscle-ups

WOD:  NFT (not for time) 9-6-3

  • Muscle-ups

  • Thrusters at 135lbs

Wish I could say the muscle-ups felt easy - but they didn't - however, I know they will eventually.  ;-)
