Use this strategy - start your path to lifelong health and weight loss today
[box type="success" align="aligncenter" ]There’s a way for you to start losing weight today and journey to lifelong health with this simple strategy. It’s tough for a man to tell his buddies that he’s on a diet. The thought of the ridicule and jokes makes it hard to start and stay motivated. Besides the thought of what your friends will say, by the time you get home from the end of your work day, you are exhausted mentally and physically. It’s the perfect recipe for not taking action and slacking off. You also are able to convince yourself that your health isn't so bad and you can address it later.   Am I close?

I get it. Many men have told me similar stories.  That’s why I want to let you in on a strategy that can help you stay with the healthy habits that you want to create.[/box]

I Have No Time. What Can I Really Do?

The two frequent reasons that men say they can’t lose weight and take care of their health are - wading through all the available health information and their lack of time. We live in an information age, so there is a ton of information out there about diets, pills, etc. It causes that overwhelming feeling, so you decide to do nothing.  Let’s make getting started as easy as possible, ok?

I compiled simple weight loss tips for you to start using today, all without changing a thing that you are currently eating.

Now that that’s out of the way, we’ll talk about the time issue.

Most people think that lack of time is a resource problem and you don’t have enough of it. I’ll challenge you with reframing that thought. I say it’s not time that’s the issue, it’s the way that you are thinking about time.

Sound strange? Keep reading. Trust me.

At the biological level of being a human, we are driven by the need to avoid pain and gain pleasure. These factors dictate our decisions and guide our lives.

I’ll break it down simply - you’ll do more to avoid pain than you will to gain pleasure.

Check this out - has someone ever given you a task to finish at work with a deadline that seemed crazy to meet? You know the one where someone tells you about a project and says they need it two weeks ago?

When it’s first given to you, you say it’s impossible. But you know what? You get it done.

Why’s that?

It’s because you wanted to steer clear of the pain of getting fired, yelled at or letting others you work with down.

At this point, are you saying to yourself, “Great, but what’s this have to do with my health?”

Do you want to take your health seriously? Then employ that same strategy.

You think that taking action regarding your health is going to be more painful than not taking action. That’s the reason you haven’t done anything about it.

Learn to Control the Motivating Forces of Pain and Pleasure

The thing that you focus on is what’s most real to you.

What you focus on has to change, if you want your existing habits to change.

Focus on the pain that you’ll endure if you don’t change your habits and the pleasure that it will instantly bring to you.

Are you going to make the decision right now that you will control the focus of your mind?

Then keep reading.

Use Pain and Pleasure to Change Your Behaviors

Below are a few questions that will help you get started.  Be specific with your answers. You’ll also want to be real with them.

Take a out a pen and paper and write your answers down. Look at them frequently.

Step 1: Make a Decision

A decision is the most powerful action that you can take.  Make a decision right now that you are going to take control of your health and take action, then continue on.

Step 2: Define Your Goals

It’s important to clearly define your goal. When you do, you’ll know how you are tracking towards it.

Would you use a GPS to get somewhere without putting in the final location? Knowing where you are headed is critical.

Answer these questions:

  • What do you want your weight to be and where do you want your health to be in 3-months? 6-months? 12-months?

  • How do you want to feel when you wake up?

  • How do you want to look?

  • What do you want others to see and say about you?

Step 3: Control Your Motivating Forces

Answer these questions:

  • In the past, what is the pain you’ve associated with losing weight and focusing on your health?

  • What is the pleasure you took from not following through in the past?

  • What will it cost you if you don’t start taking care of your health and losing weight now?

  • What are the benefits you’ll gain by taking action?

Go beyond the basic, “I’ll be fat” answer. That’s not a strong enough reason.

Because the pain of missing out on lasagna or cake will be stronger than “being fat.”

Go deep when you answer these questions - something like “No girl will want to have sex with me” or “I won’t be able to succeed in my job because I won’t have the self-confidence.”

For the benefits gained by taking action, maybe it’s “I’ll be able to approach women” or “My partner will find me irresistible again.”

These have to be reasons that resonate with you and have to be real, not just made up reasons.
