EXCUSES!

We all have them... I've written posts about the psychology of excuses , the challenge of staying motivated , and the importance of doing what you love to keep on track.  All of this feeds in to one thing and one thing only - making a decision to ACT!

It all comes down to personal choice and whether you recognize those lapsing moments where you make the conscious decision to "not do" the things you know you "ought to do".  Call it procrastination, call it laziness, call it what you will, but at the end of the day it's just a personal justification to make yourself feel better.

Not to long ago I polled some friends on Facebook and asked for some of the excuses they've used when skipping out on a workout.  I know you'll get a kick out of them (and some might resonate with you), and so here they are:

10 Excuses friends of mine have used for skipping a workout

  1. I was on my way to the gym and I was hit by a car (at least it wasn't 'leg day')

  2. My gym at work is small and there was someone else already using it, so I didn't workout

  3. I'm too sore from yesterday's workout

  4. I don’t feel like it today

  5. Gotta go pickup the kids, not enough time for a workout

  6. I'm too tired as my young children keep waking me up during the night

  7. I'm too tired, too busy and don't have enough time to workout

  8. It’s raining outside

  9. My dog hurt his leg so I can't go for a walk now

  10. I was going to the gym, but then I realized I forgot my phone, so I went home to get it and got caught up talking to a neighbor who reminded me of a deal that was happening at the local nail spa, so I thought "oh, can't miss that"... so I booked a nail appointment and skipped the gym.

Question: Do you find yourself traveling down any of these "excuses" paths?
